貧となり富めるものとなるのは偶然のことではない。富める人は富を得る原因があり、貧しいものは貧しくなる原因がある。富は節倹をなし、よく働くものに集まってくるもので、偶然集まってくるものではない。財は油断すれば自分のもとより逃げていく。富財を得ようとするには勤勉と節倹、努力によってのみ得られる。1日働けば働いただけ利益があるが、1日働かねばそれだけ損失が大きい。こういうわかりきったことがなかなかおこなわれないのが人間のありさまである。明日をたのまず、今日1日働くべきである。 二宮尊徳

「貧乏になる人、富のある人は、偶然に発生するものではない。富のある人は、富を得られる原因がある。又、貧しい人は、貧しくなる原因がある。
富を持つには、節約(要らないものを持たないでお金を貯めること)、倹約(必要なものも持たないでお金を貯めること)をして、そうして一生懸命働いた人にお金は集まってくるもので、偶然にお金は集まってこない。
財産は、注意を油断すれば、自分のところから逃げていく。豊かな財産を得るためには、仕事や勉強に一生懸命になり、節約(要らないものを持たないでお金を貯めること)、倹約(必要なものも持たないでお金を貯めること)、努力によって、しか、お金を得る手段はない。
1日働けば、その日働いた分だけの利益があるが、1日働かずにいれば、それは、その分、損失が大きく発生する。
こういう、当たり前の誰にでもわかる、物事が、なかなかできないのが人間の状態です。将来を期待しないで、今日を大切にして、働くべきです。」
幼少期を貧しく過ごして、のちに、地域の農村を助け、みんなの為に働き、人々を豊かにして、立身出世した二宮尊徳の言葉には、事実に裏付けされたものがあります。
勤勉であること。お金を大切にすることを最も強調しています。この言葉は、人生の道しるべになりますように。皆さまのご多幸をお祈りします。
