国とは、人の集まりである。日本国は、日本人集まりであり、イギリスはイギリス人の集まったものです。日本人もイギリス人も同じで、世界の中にいる人であれば、お互いに権利と義務を妨害する理由は無い。
1人が、1人を危害を加える理由が無ければ、2人が2人に向かって危害を加える理由も無い。だから、1,000,000人も10,000,000人も同様に扱われる。物事の道徳、道理は、人数の多い少ないの理由によっては、変わらない。
今、世界中を見渡すと、文明が発達して、文学も軍備も盛んにして豊かで、強い国があります。その逆もあります。
けれども、この貧富の差、強い、弱いの差は、国の現在の状態であって、初めから、そのような状態になったのでは、無い。これは、力だけでは、変わらない。そのようなことは、権利と義務で、行うことはできない。
日本国(1800年代後半から1900年前半)の状態は、西洋の国々の豊かで、強い事には、敵わない。けれど、一つの国として、権利と義務は、どのような国々であっても、同じです。
この貧富の差、力の強弱の差の状況は、これは、天からの定めでは無い。これは、人が、勉強するか、勉強をしないか、の理由によるもので、これは、移り変わるものです。
だから、今日は勉強ができない者でも、明日は知恵のある者になるように、勉強することが貧しさと弱さから抜け出す道です。昔も今もその例は、少なくない。
日本国人も、学問に志し、気力を持ってまず、自分自身の独立をする。それに伴って、一つの国として豊かになり、強くなることです。道徳、道理のあるものとは、交流する。道徳、道理の無いものは、交流しない。
国民が1人、1人、独立して、その国が、独立するには、このことが、重要です。
この節は、「国は同等である事」。この節は、とても良い言葉があります。人々は、平等で、その国の国民によって、国は、形成されているのです。だから、その国民が、勉強する事によって、その国は、豊かになります。決して、国の運命は、力ずくで、決められるものでは、ありません。
人々や国々は、皆、平等で、その国民、1人、1人によって、国の運命は、変わります。物事には、絶対は、ありません。努力によって、その国は変わるのです。だから、人々は、勉強をすることは、最も重要なことで、その事によって、人生や、自分の国の運命も変わります。
だから、勉強は、知識だけではなく、物事の道徳を勉強する場です。そうすれば、道徳のある人々と交流を持つことができます。これは、国としての道徳にも現れて、それは、信頼になり、良い国々と交流を持つことができます。
正しい判断ができるようになるので、道徳の無い国々とは、交流しない決断もできます。
このように、国は、国民1人、1人の教養が、その国の基礎になり、良い国家になることができます。これは、どんな国であっても、それは、チャンスがあります。
ですが、そこには、国民1人、1人の教養が必要で、このことは、最も重要なことです。このように勉強は、貧しさや国の運命までも変える力があります。今、貧しい国も、勉強すれば、豊かになれます。これは、努力が、必要です。
決して、カンニングとか、不正をしてはいけません。これは、道徳が有れば、そのようなことは、してはいけないことが、分かります。勉強は、子供の時だけではありません。常に謙虚に、勉強することは、最も大切です。
知能だけでは、いけません。そこに、しっかりとした道徳を学ぶ必要があります。これは、信頼関係を保つ為に最も、重要なことで、これを疎かにすれば、勉強をしても、その勉強は、無駄になります。
何故なら、道徳のない人々や国々には、道徳の無い人々や国々が集まるからです。そこには、不幸しかありません。
良い国々と交流するには、道徳と勉強は、なくてはならないものです。今回は、「学問のすすめ」から、教育の在り方と国の在り方を書いてみました。

The state of Japan (late 1800s to early 1900s) is no match for the rich and strong things of Western countries. But as a country, the rights and obligations are the same in every country.
The situation of this difference between rich and poor and the difference in strength of power is not a rule from heaven. This is because people study or don’t study, and this is a transition.
So, even if you can’t study today, studying is the way out of poverty and weakness so that you will be wise tomorrow. There are many examples of this in the past and now.
Japanese people also aspire to study and have the energy to become independent. Along with that, it is to become richer and stronger as a country. Interact with moral and rational things. Those who are moral or unreasonable do not interact.
This is important for the independence of one person, one person, and the country.
This section says, “Countries are equal.” This section has very good words. People are equal and the country is formed by the people of that country. Therefore, the country will be enriched by the people studying. By no means, the fate of a country is brute force and undecided.
People and nations are all equal, and the fate of a nation changes depending on its people, one person, one person. There is absolutely no thing in things. Efforts will change the country. So, for people, studying is the most important thing, and it changes their lives and the fate of their country.
So studying is a place to study not only knowledge but also the morals of things. That way, you can interact with moral people. This also manifests itself in national morality, which allows us to be credible and interact with good nations.
You will be able to make the right decisions, so you can decide not to interact with morally immoral countries.
In this way, a country can become a good nation, with the culture of each and every nation becoming the basis of the country. It has a chance, no matter what country it is.
However, it requires the education of one person and one person, which is the most important thing. In this way, studying has the power to change poverty and even the fate of the country. Now, poor countries can be enriched by studying. This requires effort.
Never cheat or cheat. This turns out that if you have morality, you shouldn’t do that. Studying isn’t just about childhood. Studying always humbly is of utmost importance.
Intelligence alone is not enough. There you need to learn a solid morality. This is the most important thing to maintain a relationship of trust, and if you neglect it, even if you study, that study will be wasted.
Because immoral people and nations come together with immoral people and nations. There is only misery there.
