Japan's National Diet is currently in session. I like listening to the Diet on the radio. It's been a long time since I've been there. However, the opposition parties are now asking sharp questions to the ruling party, the Liberal Democratic Party, regarding the issue of slush funds from political party tickets.
Something like this happened a long time ago, so I think our generation is letting the gas out of people who don't know about this kind of thing through political stage production. I feel like this has been around for a long time and will never go away, so I don't feel any anger or anything like that. It just looks like a political performance.
Even if people used party tickets to create slush funds to raise political funds, no one would leave the party or resign as a member. That's what the opposition parties say, but the people know that this will be left in the past, so it won't cause a big uproar.
There are many big-name and heavy-weight politicians who are unaffected by this kind of thing.
I don't know much about it, but there is a family called the Hatoyama brothers, and Mr. Yukio Hatoyama, the late Mr. Kunio Hatoyama, had an grandmother in his family, and her maiden name was ``Ishibashi.'' The word ``bridge'' in English is ``bridge'', so I used my grandmother's maiden name, ``Ishibashi'', who worked at a tire shop, to form the company ``Bridgestone.''
He divided a large property between his brothers and both became politicians, but since they were completely estranged from the political parties they belonged to, the deceased Mr. Kunio Hatoyama proudly built the fence around his family's property into the ``Berlin Wall.'' That's what I was talking about publicly.
Both of them have a huge amount of wealth from the dividends of Bridgestone shares they inherited, and they have so much money that they can't afford it. That's why I don't do anything trivial about buying party tickets like that.
Mr. Taro Aso is also the founding family of Sumishi Holdings' major shareholder, so he has inherited many shares from generation to generation. He looks so fashionable that you can't believe he's 83 years old. Politicians with a lot of money are in a different league, and they don't do such petty things.
So, that's not a problem. I think that senior citizens are on a different level, and in politics, there is a capacity to take things in their stride, so there is no point in making too many petty comments about things like that.
However, with this, Prime Minister Kishida's approval rating will likely recover. Thinking about this, I thought that politics is all about bargaining, and if there is an atmosphere of dissatisfaction among the people, this is how they let off steam and maintain the government.
Well, rather than doing nothing, if something like this happens every once in a while, even people who are uninterested in politics might become interested.
The Liberal Democratic Party has a wealth of human resources, and there is always someone in the right place. Reassuring. The world of politics believes that it is difficult to clean up slush funds, but it would be a problem if this went too far, so I think it would be nice to have audits like this from time to time.
Big-name politicians don't even get their names mentioned in things like this. I really think the world of politics is profound.
